WEEKEND IN REVIEW
The Colorado Eagles were on the road this past weekend, taking on the New Mexico Scorpions Friday evening and the Amarillo Gorillas Saturday evening. The Eagles suffered a disappointing 3-5 loss against the Scorpions at their home opener in New Mexico Halloween night. However, the loss was no indication of the level of the Eagles performance. The Eagles out shot the Scorpions 34-17, holding New Mexico to only 5 shots on goal the first period and 6 shots on goal in the second and third periods. Forward Daniel Bohac scored 2 goals, left winger Ryan Tobler scored 1 goal and had 1 assist. Right winger Greg Pankewicz had 2 assists, defenseman Brad Williamson had an assist as well.
The table turned Saturday evening in Amarillo. The Eagles outperformed the Gorillas to earn a 3-1 victory. The Eagles out shot the Gorillas 29-23, goalie Ryan Bach saved 22 of 23 Amarillo shots. Defensemen Scott Swanson and Lee Ruff each netted a goal as did right winger Greg Pankewicz (who also had 7 shots on goal). Tobler along with Williamson had 2 assists, and defenseman Igor Bondarevs also had an assist. Defenseman Brent Thompson kept both the Scorpions and the Gorillas in check, serving a total of 11 PIM's against New Mexico (3 minors, 1 major) and 17 PIM's against Amarillo (1 minor, 1 major, and 1 misconduct).
