WEEKLY SUMMARY: The Johnstown Chiefs (5-2-0; 10 PTS; 3rd Northern div.) suffered their first home loss of the season last Friday night at the hands of the Dayton Bombers. Saturday, the Chiefs got back in the winning column with a home win over the Reading Royals. The Chiefs are back in action Friday night when they host the Toledo Storm. Saturday, the Chiefs take to the road when they travel to Trenton, and Sunday afternoon they visit Atlantic City. The Chiefs are in sole possession of 3rd place in the Northern division trailing second place Wheeling by one point and first place Atlantic City by four points.

GAME #6 (10/31/03) Dayton 4 - JOHNSTOWN 1 Courchesne Power Play Goal

The Johnstown Chiefs four game winning streak came to a halt Friday night as they fell to the visiting Dayton Bombers 4-1 at the War Memorial. Dayton's Brad Ralph scored two goals in the contest, while Jason Deskins and Chad Theuer added goals for the Bombers who picked up their first win of the season. P.L. Courchesne scored the lone Johnstown goal on the power play with 2:36 left in the second period. The Chiefs struggled on the power play going 1 for 9 on the man advantage. Dayton was 0 for 4. Dayton goaltender Bujar Amidovski picked up the win making 29 saves, while David Currie suffered the loss for the Chiefs making 15 saves.

GAME #7 (11/1/03) JOHNSTOWN 3 - Reading 1 Irbe 23 saves

The Johnstown Chiefs got back to their winning ways Saturday night when they defeated the visiting Reading Royals 3-1 at the War Memorial. Jason Notermann, Dominic Forget and Steve Hildenbrand (empty net goal) all scored for the Chiefs. Jonathan Zion scored the lone Reading goal. Arturs Irbe posted the win making 23 saves while Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky made 30 saves. The Chiefs were 0 for 8 on the power play while Reading was 1 for 9.

Friday night, the Chiefs and the Toledo Storm (4-3-1, 9 PTS; 4th Northern div.) meet for the second of eight games this season. The Chiefs are 0-1-0 against the Storm this year and 36-42-0 all-time. Toledo is currently is fourth place in the Northern division trailing the Chiefs by one point. The game is also Jeff Gordon night. Gordon's #24 NASCAR will be on display at the arena throughout the game.

Saturday night, the Chiefs will take to the road when they visit the Trenton Titans (3-4-0, 6 PTS; T-8th Northern div.). This is the first of nine games this season between the two teams. The Titans are currently tied with Dayton for last place in the Northern division. The Chiefs are 6-13-2 all-time against the Titans.

Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs conclude the weekend with a game at Atlantic City (7-1-0, 14 PTS; 1st Northern div.).The Chiefs will face the defending Kelly Cup Champion Boardwalk Bullies eight times this season. The Bullies currently hold first place in the Northern division and the best record in the ECHL. The Bullies have out scored their opponents 32-17 this season.

CHIEFS NOTES:

- The Chiefs were just 1 for 17 (5%) on the power play in two games last week.

- In their five wins, the Chiefs have out scored their opponents a combined 25-6.

- Goaltender Arturs Irbe leads the ECHL with a 1.25 GAA and a 0.954 save percentage.

- Jason Notermann is tied for first among ECHL rookies with 5 goals.

- Jeff Sullivan has recorded at least one penalty in all seven games this season (42 PIM).
