Cyclones Prepare for Western Foe & Wheeling

The Cyclones continued their losing skid by going 0-4-0 last week to fall to 20-30-3 on the season. This week, the Cyclones play four games in five nights beginning on Wednesday at home vs. Idaho. The weekend continues with a home and home with the ECHL's best team, the Wheeling Nailers, on Friday in Wheeling and Saturday at U.S. Bank Arena. On Sunday, the Cyclones head to Toledo for a matinee match-up with the Storm.

Tuesday, February 10-Peoria 3 at Cincinnati 2

The Cyclones fell to 4-8-0 on the season vs. Peoria with a one-goal loss at U.S. Bank Arena. The first ended tied at one after Peoria's Greg Black and Cincinnati's Bob Rangus exchanged goals. After a scoreless second, the Rivermen charged out of the gates with two goals in the first seven minutes of the third period. Marty Johnston and Chad Starling staked the Rivermen to a 3-1 lead as they both recorded even strength markers. Richard Naumann would pull the Cyclones to within one with his sixth goal of the season at the 13:20 mark of the second, but the Clones would get no closer.

Friday, February 13-Cincinnati 1 at Trenton 5

The Titans creamed the Cyclones 5-1 on Friday. Trenton jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Matt Zultek, B.J. Kilbourne and Mathieu Brunelle. Evan Cheverie scored the only Clones marker at the 11:30 mark of the second before Trenton added two more goals.

Saturday, February 14-Cincinnati 2 at Trenton 4

Garrett Prosofsky scored his team-leading 18th goal of the season 1:23 into the first to give the Clones a 1-0 lead. The Titans would roar back with three unanswered power-play goals before Bob Rangus pulled the Clones to within on at the 3:46 mark of the third. The Cyclones would get no closer before Chris Pittman potted an empty net goal to secure the Titan's win.

Sunday, February 15-Cincinnati 1 at Reading 4

Peter Hay scored two first period markers to give Reading an early lead. Mark Concannon converted a Cyclones power play with 1:05 left in the first to cut the Reading lead in half. The Royals would salt the game away with markers by Kent Davyduke and Lars Pettersen. The loss extended the Cyclones winless streak to nine games (0-8-1).

This Week

Tuesday, February 18-Idaho at Cincinnati

The Cyclones host an ECHL Western Conference opponent for the first time in franchise history on Wednesday. The Cyclones were shutout twice by the Steelheads in early November in Idaho. The Cyclones look to end their winless streak by beating the Steelheads for the first time this year.

Friday, February 20-Cincinnati at Wheeling

Saturday, February 21-Wheeling at Cincinnati

The Cyclones have a home and home series with the ECHL's best team beginning on Friday in Wheeling. The last time these foes met, the Nailers converted a power play in overtime to beat the Clones.

Sunday, February 22-Cincinnati at Toledo

The Cyclones and Storm play for the eighth time this year on Sunday afternoon. Cincinnati is 4-2-1 vs. Toledo on the season. Both of the Cyclones' regulation losses vs. the Storm have come in the teams' last two meetings.

NASCAR Night

2003 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Matt Kenseth will be at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday for NASCAR Night. Kenseth finished ninth in Sunday's Daytona 500. On Wednesday, Kenseth will drop the opening puck before the Cyclones battle the Steelheads. Clones to Watch

-Bob Rangus has three goals in his last five games.

-Richard Naumann received the Cyclones nomination for ECHL Player of the Week after recording a goal and three assists in four games.
