Bullies Going Bald

February 16, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Several players from the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL will be shaving their heads on the ice at Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, February 28 following their game with Trenton in honor of St. Baldrick's Day to benefit childhood cancer. St. Baldrick's Day is the national head-shaving for childhood cancer where people have their locks shorn in public, in exchange for monetary pledges and donations.

Bullies Steve Munn, Preston Mizzi, Danny Eberly, Jake Moreland, Brian Fahey, Josh Prudden, and Dave Reid will each shave their heads with the goal of raising money for the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, which supports the research activities of more than 235 children's hospitals and research centers in North America, including the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

At the first local St. Baldrick's Day held last March at the Bubba Mac Shack in Somers Point, 136 people from the ages of 5-65 shaved their heads and raised a total of $44,000. That money has helped local children in their battles with cancer.

The Boardwalk Bullies organization has extended their efforts this year to help local children who suffer from pediatric cancer. Currently, 20 children from the South Jersey area have joined the Bullies in the "Face-Off Against Kids Cancer," a program that pairs each Bullies player with a child who suffers from early stages of pediatric cancer. On March 17 and 19, the Bullies will wear special commemorative jerseys during home games against Johnstown and Peoria to be auctioned off through the end of the month with the proceeds benefitting Caps For Kids.

The Bullies battle the Pacific Division Bakersfield Condors at 7:05PM on Wednesday at Boardwalk Hall. Every Wednesday home game this season is a "Wild Wednesday" sponsored by Coors Light and Molson Canadian. College students, military personnel, casino, and service industry workers get in the gates for just $6. Enjoy Coors Light and Molson Canadian draught beer for just $2 all night.
