Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads did not gain ground on its divisional foes last week, picking up only two points out of a possible six over the weekend. Idaho lost two games in Peoria on Friday and Saturday before recording the win in Dayton on Sunday. Idaho has been held to third place in the Pacific Division with the first place San Diego Gulls (34-11-4, 72 points) winning all three of its games over the weekend, and the second place Las Vegas Wranglers (30-16-5, 65 points) matching the Steelheads weekend record with one win.
The Steelheads continue its only trip east this season with a Wednesday night game against the Northern Division's Cincinnati Cyclones, and a weekend pair upcoming against the Toledo Storm.
RECORD:
Idaho is 29-16-5, 63 points (home record 17-5-2, and road record 12-11-3). Idaho is 4-5-1 in its last 10 games; its current streak is 1-0-0.
OF NOTE:
TEAM.... Idaho is 1-2-0 in its first trip east since joining the ECHL this season.... The Steelheads marked the first back-to-back shutouts in Idaho Steelheads history against Cincinnati - on Friday, November 7th Idaho shutout Cincinnati 3-0 with goaltender Dan Ellis in net, and Saturday, November 8th Blair Allison excelled as the winning goalie in a 1-0 match.... The team is ranked 10th overall in the ECHL standings.... PLAYERS.... Forwards Andrei Vasilyev and David Bararuk have each scored 8 points in their last 8 games played - Vasilyev has 6 goals and 2 assists, while Bararuk has tallied 4 goals and 4 assists.... Goaltender Dan Ellis, recalled to the Steelheads NHL affiliate Dallas Stars from Utah on February 9th, remains on the Stars' roster...Though he has not played in any games, he has been dressed as backup for the last two games and is expected to dress for the game at Anaheim tonight.

2/13/04: IDAHO 1 @ PEORIA 3
PEORIA, Illinois (Ticker) -- Mike Valley stopped 27 shots to lead the Peoria Rivermen to a 3-1 victory over the Idaho Steelheads. Valley, who is unbeaten in regulation in his last five starts (4-0-1), stopped all seven shots in the first period, made 16 save in the middle stanza, and turned aside four shots over the final 20 minutes to preserve the win. Tyler Rennette and Greg Black scored 18 seconds apart in the first period to give Peoria an early 2-0 lead and Scott Turner added a goal just 1:54 into the second period to cap the scoring for the Rivermen, who have won three in a row and improved to four games over .500 at the Peoria Civic Center. Andrei Vasilyev notched his sixth goal in his last six games and Blair Allison stopped 23 shots in the losing effort for Idaho.
02/14/04: IDAHO 2 @ PEORIA 5
PEORIA, Illinois (Ticker) -- Marty Johnston scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Peoria Rivermen to a 5-2 victory over the Idaho Steelheads. Johnston opened the scoring 7:10 into the contest, netted a power-play goal for a 2-0 lead with 5:51 left in the second period and tallied 3:35 later. He also helped out on a third-period goal by Scott Crawford, who had a pair of assists in the contest. Levente Szuper had nine saves in the third period and 26 overall for the win, Peoria's fourth in a row and sixth in seventh games. Brett Draney scored twice in the final 25 minutes of the contest for Idaho, which finished 0-of-5 on the power play in its fourth loss in its last six road games (1-4-1). Blair Allison gave up three goals on 29 shots over the first two periods for the loss.
02/15/04: IDAHO 5 @ DAYTON 3
DAYTON, Ohio (Ticker) -- Darrell Hay scored twice to help the Idaho Steelheads beat the Dayton Bombers, 5-3. Hay collected a power-play goal midway through the first period and gave his team a 3-1 lead 3:50 into the second. Chris Slater extended the advantage to two goals with 2:37 left in the middle stanza and Brett Draney scored early in the third for Idaho, which improved to 2-4-1 over its last seven road games. Blair Allison had 14 saves in the third period and 32 overall for the win. Chad Theuer and Riley Cote both scored within the final two minutes of the second period for Dayton, which is winless over its last three. Andrew Penner gave up all five goals on 34 shots for the loss.
