Beaumont, TX (February 16, 2004) â The Texas Wildcatters split their two-game homestand this weekend after falling to the Mississippi Sea Wolves Tuesday night. The Nextel Cup returned to Biloxi, MS Tuesday night for game eight of the fifteen game series between Texas and Mississippi, and for the second time this season, the Wildcatters were shutout by the Sea Wolves. Netminder Mark Scally stayed busy between the pipes, as he turned away 36 of the 38 shots he faced in the game.
On Friday, the Wildcatters hosted the top team in the Central Division, the Louisiana IceGators. Three different Texas players (Martin Masa, John Campbell, and Ashlee Langdone) netted goals in the 4-1 thrashing of the IceGators. Davis Parley picked up his 13th win of the season as he ended the game with 36 saves.
On Saturday, the Wildcatters entertained the San Diego Gulls for their first of three meetings at Ford Arena this season. San Diego opened up the scoring with two goals in the first seven minutes and never looked back as they defeated the Wildcatters 8-4. Masa, Campbell, and Langdone once again produced the goals for the Wildcatters along with right wing Cory Morgan.
Player of the Week Nomination: Ashlee Langdone finished the week a +2 with five points (3g-2a). The Edmonton, ALTA native recorded two goals and an assist in the win over Louisiana and one goal and an assist in the loss to San Diego.
Goalie of the Week Nomination: Mark Scally ended the week with a .939 save percentage, turning away 62 of the 66 shots he faced. Scally finished 0-1-0 for the week after picking up a no decision in his relief effort against the Gulls.
âCatters on the Prowl:
- Forward Rae Metz has recorded six points (3g-3a) in his past five games.
- Forward Ashlee Langdone recorded five points (3g-2a) over the weekend to extend his point streak to two games. Langdone now has ten points (3g-7a) in his past five games. He also picked up his second Gordie Howe Hat Trick of the season Saturday night as he picked up a goal, an assist, and a fighting major against San Diego.
