Alaska Aces News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – Kimbi Daniels scored his second goal of the game 30 seconds into overtime, lifting Alaska past Fresno 5-4 Monday afternoon before 4,227 at the Save-Mart Center.

Alaska bolted to the early lead, as Chris Lipsett made a steal at center ice and beat Fresno netminder Mike Brusseau glove side for a 1-0 edge just 3:10 into the game. The Falcons battled back, surging in front 2-1 on goals by Boris Protsenko and Mike Sandbeck, but only a minute after Sandback's goal, Denis Ladouceur tied the game at 2-2 with a wrist shot from the left circle at 8:36. Keith McCambridge gave the Aces a 3-2 lead with his first goal of the season, and the 13th of his eight-year pro career, at 11:25 from an impossible angle deep along the left corner boards.

Riku Rahikainen slammed home a rebound to tie the game at 13:21 of the second period, but Daniels responded with a shorthanded goal five minutes later to lift Alaska into a 4-3 lead heading into the final period. The score remained that way until Michael Kiesman snapped a wrister past Aces goalie Dan Murphy, who finished with 28 saves, directly off a draw won by Kris Porter with 4:19 left in regulation. Daniels began overtime with a rush from the left wing, and when he flipped a centering pass in front, the puck caromed off the back of Mark Jackson's skate and into the net for the game-winner. Alaska improved to 3-0 in OT, 28-17-4 overall, while Fresno slid to 1-4 in the extra session and 13-30-6.

The Aces, who moved within three points of third-place Idaho in the Pacific Division, finish up their six-game road trip tomorrow night at second-place Las Vegas (30-16-5), who took four of six points from Alaska at Sullivan Arena over the weekend of February 6-8. Tomorrow's game will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
