
Gladiators Stop Express, 7-2

The Gwinnett Gladiators got two goals from Cam Brown while 12 different players figured in the scoring for Gwinnett in a 7-2 win over the Roanoke Express on Saturday night in front of 6,815 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
The Gladiators seven-goal output ties the team's season high mark for goal in a contest tying the 7 goals the Gladiators put up against the Augusta Lynx on December4 30th.
Jim Jackson opened the scoring early in the first period as he ripped a slap shot from the point past Roanoke netminder Jason Wolfe. Steve Slonina added an assist on the goal at 4:47 of the opening period.
Roanoke tied the game at a goal apiece on the power play as Rick Kowalsky slid a puck past Gladiators netminder Trevor Prior. Dan Carlson and Joe Dusbabek added the assists on the goal at 13:38 of the period.
Roanoke took its only lead of the game two and a half minutes later on Doug Scatchard's goal as he whacked a loose puck past the netminder from the slot. Carl Mallette and Bryan Perez added the assists on the goal.
Cam Brown equalized the game at two when he picked up his own rebound in the slot and flipped a backhand shot over Wolfe's outstretched leg. Blue Bennefield and Paul Flache added and assist on the goal at 17:43 of the period.
Kris Goodjohn regained the lead for the Gladiators with 18 seconds remaining in the period. Steve Slonina dropped the puck to the center man as they slipped over the Roanoke blue line late in the period.
In the second period, Cam Brown deflected a Brandon Dietrich's slapshot from the left wing point on the power play to push the Gladiators lead to two goals. Wes Swinson also added an assist on the goal at 11:01 of the middle stanza.
The Gladiators added three goals in the third period to put the game out of reach.
Joe Bourne tallied the first of the third period goals as his bad angle shot from the left wing circle slipped past Wolfe at 3:34 of the third.
Phil Lewandowski knocked down a clearing attempt by Wolfe at 8:01 of the period and ripped the take away past the netminder for the unassisted goal.
Brandon Dietrich capped the three goal third period as he stuffed the puck past Wolfe on a breakaway. Kevin Doell and Jim Jackson added assists on the Gladiators final goal at 9:38 of the third period.
Trevor Prior made 22 saves for the Gladiators who improve to 29-17-4 on the season in the win.
