THE WEEK AHEAD

Friday, February 20th vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum

This is the second meeting between these two teams and the first time Pensacola will be in the Carolina Coliseum. The Inferno is 1-0-0 against the Ice Pilots all-time and this season. Pensacola is in fifth place in the Central Division of the Western Conference with 54 points (24-17-6).

Saturday, February 21st @ Augusta Lynx 7:35pm Augusta-Richmond Civic Center

Columbia is 4-1-0 against the Lynx this season and 12-7-3 all-time. This is the sixth and final meeting between the Inferno and Lynx. Augusta is in sixth place in the Central Division of the Western Conference with 45 points (20-25-5).

Sunday, February 22nd vs. Florida Everblades 4:00pm Carolina Coliseum

This is the final meeting between the Everblades and Inferno. The Inferno is 3-1-0 this season against the Everblades and 11-8-1 all-time. Florida is in third place in the Southern Division with 61 points (26-19-9).

LAST WEEK

Tuesday, February 10th Inferno 4 GREENVILLE 6

The Greenville Grrrowl earned two points in the Southern Division standings as they beat the Inferno 6-4. Despite out shooting the Grrrowl 42-30, Columbia came up short but remain atop of the Southern Division. The Grrrowl scored the first three goals as they showed dominancy in the first half of the game. Corey Hessler put Columbia on the board first with his fifth goal of the season with passes from Ryan Petz and Alex Burrows at 10:46 of the second period. Greenville jumped ahead by scoring the next three goals to take a 6-1 lead on the Inferno. Jesse Schultz scored back-to-back goals at 17:50 and 19:10 of the second period to pull the Inferno back within three. Terry Harrison and Burrows had the assists on Schultz's first goal as Matt Ulwelling and Sean Owens assisted on the second. Burrows scored his 22nd goal of the season at 2:06 of the third period with assists to Petz and Dennis Vial.

Friday, February 13th INFERNO 3 Columbus 2

Tim Smith scored two goals and Robin Carruthers scored the game-winning goal as the Inferno defeat the Columbus Cottonmouths 3-2. Smith scored at 14:58 of the first period with a pass from Jesse Schultz to open the scoring for the Inferno. Only 58 second into the second period, Smith scored his second of the night, unassisted, to give the Inferno a 2-0. Columbus scored the next two goals to tie the game but the Inferno would never give up. Carruthers scored his 24th goal of the season at 13:56 of the third period with assists to defensemen Derek Eastman and Dennis Vial. The Inferno improves their record to 31-15-5. Shots on goal were in favor of Columbus 21-17. Josh Blackburn earns his 19th win of the season.

Sunday, February 15th INFERNO 5 Gwinnett 3

Jesse Schultz recorded his second professional hat trick this season and Tim Smith had four assists as the Inferno gored the Gladiators 5-3. Newcomer Mike Hanson was assessed a double minor for high sticking and the Gladiators scored two quick goals on the power play. Terry Harrison scored his first goal of the night at 13:03 with a wrist shot that sailed past goaltender Mike Buckley as he received passes from Tim Smith and Matt Ulwelling. Gwinnett scored just before time expired at 19:59 of the first period to lead the Inferno 3-1. Derek Eastman took a shot at the right side of Gwinnett's goaltender as it hit behind the goal and Schultz scored with a one-time shot to notch his first goal of the night at 6:12 of the second period. Sean Owens had the second assist. Less than two minutes later, Schultz scored his second goal with set up from Smith and Harrison to tie the game at three goals apiece. Schultz lit it up again with his third goal of the night at 10:54 on the power play with a perfect pass from Smith and Owens. Harrison finished the scoring for the Inferno at 13:41 with his second goal of the night from Smith and Schultz.
