March 1, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

The Cyclones host the Trenton Titans for the first time this season on Friday at U.S. Bank Arena. The teams complete their season series on Saturday with a rematch at U.S. Bank Arena. Last week, the Cyclones were swept in a two-game set at Wheeling. Cincinnati suffered back to back shutouts as Wheeling's Tyler MacKay stopped all 65 shots he saw in the two-game set.

Game Recaps

Friday, February 27 Cincinnati 0 at Wheeling 2

Two power-play goals proved to be enough as the Nailers downed the Cyclones 2-0. Brendon Hodge and Jake Ortmeyer scored with the man advantage as the Nailers improved to 7-2-0 on the year vs. Cincinnati. The Clones mustered 21 shots on goal in recording their sixth shutout loss of the season.

Saturday, February 28 Cincinnati 0 at Wheeling 3

The Cyclones were shutout in Wheeling for the third consecutive game. Kamil Kuriplach, T.J. Reynolds and Ben Blais scored for the Nailers in the win. The game was the last of ten meetings between the Nailers and Clones. Cincinnati finished the season with a 2-7-1 mark vs. Wheeling. This Week

Friday, March 5 Trenton at Cincinnati

The Cyclones host the Trenton Titans for the first time this season on Friday. The teams met in Trenton in early February. The Titans won both meetings of the two-game set by a combined score of 9-3. The Titans were extremely strong on the power play in the two game set going 4 of 11 (36.4%) with the man advantage.

Saturday, March 6 Trenton at Cincinnati

The Cyclones and Titans conclude their season series on Saturday at U.S. Bank Arena.

The Playoff Picture

The Cyclones begin this week with a mathematical chance of making the ECHL Northern Division Playoffs. The Clones trail Reading by 25 points for the final spot. Cincinnati has 13 games left. If the Cyclones win all of their games while the Royals lose their last 16, the Clones could still make the playoffs. The next Cyclones loss or the next Royals victory will officially eliminate the Cyclones from the playoffs.

Today's Transactions

The Cyclones completed a series of trades today. Tyler Deis and Shawn Weiman were sent to the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for Philip Lewandowski. Lewandowski has 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in 44 games this season. Jason Norrie was sent to Peoria today to complete the Malcolm MacMillan trade. MacMillan made his Cyclones debut this weekend after being acquired from Peoria last week. Mark Concannon was sent to the Greenville Grrrowl on Monday in exchange for Mike Henderson. Henderson played 56 games in Greenville this year recording 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points. Henderson rejoins the Clones after being a member of the 2002-03 Cyclones squad. Henderson four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 19 games with Cincinnati last season. Brett Clouthier is also leaving Cincinnati. Clouthier was recalled to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

Clones to Watch

-The Cyclones are on pace to set the ECHL record for fewest goals scored in a season. The current record is 182 by the Reading Royals in 2001-02. This year's edition of the Clones is on pace to score 167 goals.

-Friday is Columbus Blue Jackets Night. Fans in attendance will be eligible to receive prizes from Ohio's only NHL Franchise.

-Saturday day is Guns N' Hoses Night at U.S. Bank Arena. The Cyclones will be hosting a tribute to local police and firemen during their match-up with the Trenton Titans.
