Titans go 3-1, still on the bubble
March 1, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ â The Trenton Titans came into the week of play looking to close the ten-point gap between themselves and the Johnstown Chiefs for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Northern Division.
The Titans got the chance to pull closer to Johnstown with an early week match-up against the Chiefs. With some assistance from four assignments from the AHL, the Titans were able to dominate in a 5-2 win.
Trenton continued their winning ways, holding on for a 4-3 win against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday night. The Titans found themselves up 4-1 mid-way through the second period, but the Cyclones would come back and make the Titans earn the victory.
The Titans looked to make it three in a row at Boardwalk Hall against the Atlantic City. Despite being up a goal twice in the game, the Titans could not keep the lead and headed to a shoot-out. There, Chris Houled stopped four of five shots as Ryan Crane and Robert Liscak got the puck past Scott Stirling for the 3-2 victory.
Looking the to complete the weekend sweep, the Titans came into Johnstown hoping to get revenge for a embarrassing 4-2 loss to the Chiefs the week before. Again, it was not to be on this Sunday afternoon, as the Chiefs came from behind to hand the Titans the 3-2 defeat.
The Trenton Titans find themselves in sixth place in the Northern Division and eight points behind the Reading Royals. The Titans hit the road for their seven-gam road trip to the Midwest. They start the trip with a two-game against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday, March 5 at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 6 at 7:30pm. The Titans finish up the weekend with a matinee game against the Peoria Rivermen at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 7.
