\'Catters go 0-2 against top two teams in Central Division

Beaumont, TX (March 1, 2004) – The Texas Wildcatters dropped both games this week as they once again faced the top two teams in the Central Division. On Saturday, the Nextel Cup returned to Ford Arena as the Texas Wildcatters hosted Mississippi for game 11 of the 15-game series. Tied at two after two periods of play, the Sea Wolves netted two goals in the final twenty minutes to knock off the Wildcatters 4-2. Cory Morgan tallied his 14th goal and John Snowden recorded his team-leading 18th goal of the season in the defeat.

On Sunday, the Wildcatters made the two-hour trip to Lafayette to face the Louisiana IceGators for their seventh meeting at the CajunDome. The IceGators scored four goals in the opening period on their way to a 5-1 victory. Newly acquired defenseman Mark Jackson scored the only goal for the Wildcatters. John Campbell and Ryan Fultz assisted on Jackson's third tally of the season.

Player of the Week Nomination: Newly acquired defenseman Mark Jackson picked up his first goal in a Wildcatters uniform Sunday against Louisiana. The 6'1", 210-pound University of Wisconsin alumnus was traded to Texas along with Adam Stefishen from Fresno for Brian Passmore.

Goaltender of the Week Nomination: Mark Scally posted a 1.50 goals against average and turned away 30 of the 31 shots he faced in a relief effort Sunday against Louisiana. Scally replaced Davis Parley in the second period of the 5-1 loss.

School Voucher Night a Success: The second largest crowd of the Wildcatters season came out Saturday night against the Sea Wolves. Over 5,300 fans filled Ford Arena on the first annual school voucher redemption night. The Wildcatters will distribute vouchers to all students in Region 5 again next season.

Going Once, Going Twice, Sold! : Texas Wildcatters players wore commemorative Mardi Gras jerseys Saturday night which were auctioned off following the conclusion of the game. The organization was able to raise $17,150, in which a portion of the proceeds will benefit Girls Haven.

Post-Game Skate on Texaco Community Federal Credit Union Night: The first 500 kids in attendance for Saturday's game against the San Diego Gulls will receive a foam hockey stick and puck. Reservations for the post-game skate with the team will take place during the 1st intermission at the Ford Arena Guest Services desk located on the northeast concourse.

Four Figure Club: John Snowden's jersey received the most attention on the evening, as the final bid on it was $2,000. Netminder Davis Parley was right behind him with $1,700, followed by Martin Masa ($1,500), Clint Cabana ($1,200), and Mark Scally ($1,000).

Happy Birthday To You: The Wildcatters, along with the WB and the Great American Cookie Company, will present Gusher with a life-size cookie during the first intermission in honor of the mascot's first birthday. Other mascots that will be on hand include Bugs Bunny, Tazmanian Devil, and Michigan J. Frog of the WB.

Calling All Kids! : Sunday's game against San Diego is another KFDM Kid's Day at Ford Arena. Tickets for children under 12 years of age will be $5, no matter where you sit in the arena.
