LAST WEEK: The Pride went 1-1-1 last week, losing in a shootout at Gwinnett, falling in regulation at home to Columbia, and winning at Columbia on Saturday to wrap up the week. Florence is 22-28-7 for 51 points, and is in seventh place in the Southern Division.

Tuesday, February 24 @ Gwinnett Gladiators 2 PRIDE 1 (SO)

After 51 minutes of scoreless hockey, the Pride finally broke the ice 11:09 into the third period, as Wes Goldie connected on a power play for his 29th goal of the season. Gwinnett came back to tie it just 1:12 later on a Jim Jackson tally. It stayed tied through the end of regulation and overtime. In the shootout, the Gladiators scored on all three of their shots, while the Pride netted just one goal in four shots.

Friday, February 27 v. Columbia Inferno 9 PRIDE 2

Tim Smith netted a hat trick, and Derek Eastman and Paul Cabana both scored a pair of goals as Columbia rolled over Florence 9-2. Josh Piro, in his first game with the Pride after being claimed off of waivers earlier in the week, scored the first goal of the night for the Pride, while Wes Goldie scored the other, giving him 30 goals for the second time in his professional career.

Saturday, February 28 @ Columbia PRIDE 2 Inferno 1

The Pride won at the Carolina Coliseum for just the third time ever, defeating Columbia 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. Eric Naud gave the Pride a 1-0 lead 11:51 into play, connecting on a power-play opportunity. The Inferno tied it 7:06 into the second when Alex Burrows swept a rebound past Pride goaltender Sebasiten Laplante. With the score tied at 1 midway through the third, the Pride got the game winner as Kyle Kidney crashed the net, and put home a rebound of a Naud shot to end the team's five-game winless streak. Laplante was strong in the win, as he turned aside 35 Inferno shots.

THIS WEEKS' GAMES

Thursday, March 4 v. Columbus 7:30 p.m. Lion's Den

Florence and Columbus meet for the sixth of seven times this season, and for the final time in Florence. The Pride are 1-4-0 against the Cottonmouths this season, and are 0-2-0 at home. In the last meeting, on February 14 in Columbus, the Pride suffered their worst loss of the season, falling 10-0. Columbus enters the week in fifth place of the Central Division with a record of 31-22-4 for 66 points, and trails Pensacola by two points for the final divisional playoff spot.

Friday, March 5 v. Greensboro 7:30 p.m. Lion's Den

The Pride and Generals get together for the fourth of five times this season. Florence is 1-2-0 overall against Greensboro this season, and 0-1-0 at home. The Generals are in third place in the Southern Division with a 33-23-1 record for 67 points.

PROMOTIONS: Mac and Cheese Night at the Lion's Den. Fans are encouraged to bring a box of macaroni and cheese to the game to use as a noisemaker. After the game, the Pride will collect all of the boxes of macaroni and cheese to donate to the Manna House.

Sunday, March 7 v. Charlotte 2:30 p.m. Lion's Den

The fourth of five meetings this season between the Pride and Checkers, and the final meeting in Florence. The Pride are 1-1-1 against the Checkers this season, 0-1-0 at home. Charlotte has won three straight and is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games, and is tied with South Carolina for the final playoff spot in the Southern Division with 65 points.

PROMOTIONS: The Kelly Cup will make an appearance at the Lion's Den during the game. Fans will have the opportunity to see the ECHL championship trophy up close, as well as meet the Cup's namesake, Pat Kelly. It's also another Sunday Kids' Day at the Lion's Den, with tickets for kids 12 and under available for just $2.50, and kids' meals will be available for an additional $2.50.

PRIDE IN THE COMMUNITY

Monday, March 1

All Pride players and staff will be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Golf Tournament at The Traces Golf Club on Southborough Road in Florence.

Tuesday, March 2

Several players and staff members will be reading at various schools throughout the area, and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area as part of Dr. Seuss' Read Across America Day.

Wednesday, March 3

Several players will be at the Boys & Girls Club at 3:0 p.m. to play street hockey.

Players will be speaking at a meeting of the Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee at 4:30 p.m.

PRIDE NOTES

- With a goal Saturday at Columbia, Kyle Kidney has set a new single-season career high with 14 goals. His previous best was 13, set in 2001-02 with the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League.

- Wes Goldie enters the week on a four-game point streak (2g 4a). He is tied for fourth in the ECHL with 30 goals, marking the second time in his career that he has reached the 30-goal plateau (33, 2000-01).

- In their last six games (1-4-1), the Pride have been outscored 26-10.

- Florence has at least one power-play in each of the last four games, and in seven of the last eight outings. The Pride are fourth in the ECHL on the man advantage, converting at 21.3%.

- The Pride are 5-0-0 this season when Eric Naud scores a goal.

YARD SIGNS

The Pride would like to thank all of their fans who have been placing their yard signs on game days. If you do not have a yard sign, they are available at the Pride office from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Pride's next home games are Thursday, March 4 against the Columbus Cottonmouths, Friday, March 5 versus the Greensboro Generals and Sunday, March 7 against the Charlotte Checkers.

SEASON-TICKET RENEWALS

The Pride are now accepting season-ticket renewals for the 2004-2005 season. Season-ticket holders can return their completed applications to the Pride office from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or mail the applications to the Pride office at 3300 West Radio Drive; Florence, SC 29501. The Pride will also have a table set up on the concourse during all remaining home games for season-ticket holders to return their applications, or to ask any questions.
