San Antonio Rampage News Release
GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled center Joel Perrault on an emergency basis from the San Antonio Rampage - the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Perrault has posted 13-18-31 as well as a plus/minus rating of +9 and 4 penalty minutes (PIM) in 37 combined AHL games with San Antonio and Portland this season. In 12 games with San Antonio, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound forward has registered 1-6-7 and +5. Perrault has also played in 3 games this season with Augusta of the ECHL, recording 4-2-6 and 2 PIM.
The Coyotes acquired Perrault from Anaheim in exchange for Sean O'Donnell on Mar. 9. Perrault, who will turn 23 on Thursday, has not yet played in an NHL game in his career.
Perrault registered 28 points in each of his first two professional seasons with Cincinnati (AHL) in 2003-04 and 2004-05. Prior to turning pro, the Montreal native had an impressive junior career with Baie-Comeau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In his final season with Baie-Comeau, Perrault led the QMJHL with 116 points and ranked third in the league with 51 goals in 70 games in 2002-03. He earned QMJHL First All-Star Team and Canadian Major Junior First All-Star Team honors in 2003.
Perrault was originally drafted by Anaheim in the 5th round (137th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
