Wolf Pack Sign Lauri Korpikoski and Dane Byers to ATO Contracts

HARTFORD, April 4, 2006: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager/head coach Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Hartford Wolf Pack has signed left wings Lauri Korpikoski and Dane Byers to amateur tryout (ATO) contracts, effective March 31st.

Korpikoski, a 6'1", 183-pound Turku, Finland native, was a first-round Rangers draft pick (#19 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He played 51 games this year with TPS Turku in Finland and registered three goals and four assists for seven points, along with 16 penalty minutes.

Byers, a 6'2", 187-pound forward hailing from Nipawin, Saskatchewan, was a second-round Rangers draft pick (#48 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, out of Prince Albert of the WHL. In 71 games with the Raiders this season, Byers has netted 21 goals and 27 assists for 48 points, with 157 minutes in penalties.

The Wolf Pack return to action Friday night, April 7 (7:00 p.m. faceoff), with a home match-up against Atlantic Division leader the Portland Pirates. Then on Saturday night, the Pack travel to Bridgeport to take on the Sound Tigers (7:05 p.m.) and face the Lowell Lock Monsters the following day at home (4:00 p.m.).

The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack hockey club is part of Madison Square Garden LP. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG LP, which also includes the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the MSG Network, Fox Sports Net and the Madison Square Garden arena complex.
