Chili Buss to Start PCL All-Star Game
July 2, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Pacific Coast League announced today that Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Chili Buss has been elected as a starter for the Triple-A All-Star Game. The game between the Pacific Coast League and International League will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada.
Buss is one of 13 players who were elected to the squad by the balloting of the club's field managers and general managers, media members and online fan voting. The 17 other team members were selected by the Pacific Coast League office. The PCL All-Star roster is attached.
The Michigan native is at the top of nearly every offensive category for the Isotopes this season. He is tied for the active team lead in runs (50) and holds the number one spot in triples (8), home runs (11), RBI (60), total bases (139) and games played (76). He is tied for second on the club with 16 doubles. The 26-year-old outfielder's 60 RBI are good for third in the Pacific Coast League and his eight triples put him in a fourth place tie in the league.
The 6-foot-2 left-handed hitter was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the eighth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of UCLA and made his Triple-A debut this season with Albuquerque. He will be playing in the first All-Star game of his professional career and is the only Isotopes representative this season. Buss has 20 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI games on the year. He is also hitting .333 (13-for-39) over the last 10 games, collecting a team-high 13 hits and 13 RBI during that stretch with a home run and seven runs scored.
The 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be televised live on MLB Network Wednesday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. MT. The All-Star Game will also be available to MiLB.TV subscribers live on MiLB.com. The radio feed of the game will also be aired on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" as well. In addition, the American Forces Network showcase the event, bringing MLB Network's telecast of the Triple-A All-Star Game to the U.S. Armed Forces stationed outside the contiguous United States on U.S. military installations and aboard U.S. Navy ships at sea.
