July 2, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Pitcher Rob Wooten has been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team and will represent the Sounds on the 30-man squad that takes on the International League stars in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada.

Wooten was selected as a reserve for the contest by the PCL office.

The 27-year-old right-hander is tied for 2nd in the PCL with his team-leading 17 saves and has posted an 0-1 record and 2.40 ERA (12er/45.0ip) in 33 relief appearances for the Sounds.

On the year, he is holding opponents to a .205 average, 4th-best among circuit relievers, and ranks 2nd among PCL relievers in fewest walks per nine innings (1.60) and baserunners per nine innings (8.80).

Wooten has allowed a run in only seven of his 33 outings this season and has notched a save in 12 of his last 14 trips to the hill, recording 17 saves in 20 overall opportunities.

He has struck out 41 batters in his 45.0 innings while issuing only nine walks. Five of his 12 runs allowed this season came in one outing (May 19 at Salt Lake).

The All-Star nod is the second mid-season honor of Wooten's six-year pro career. He was previously recognized as a Florida State League All-Star in 2009 during his second pro year season.

The International League All-Star roster will be announced tomorrow.

The 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast live on television on MLB Network and the Armed Forces Network as well as on the radio on 102.5 FM "The Game" at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
