OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City RedHawks pitchers Jarred Cosart and Jason Stoffel have been named Pacific Coast League All-Stars and will participate in the 2013 Dolan Auto Group Triple-A All-Star Game Wednesday, July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nev.
Cosart and Stoffel will account for two of the 30 players on the PCL roster that will represent the league in the 26th annual matchup against the International League All-Stars.
Cosart, a starting pitcher from League City, Tex., was one of 13 players elected to the squad by the balloting of club field managers and general managers, members of the media, and online fan voting. He ranks third in the PCL with a 2.98 ERA and second with a .205 opponent batting average. He ranks tied for fourth in the league with 90 strikeouts and sits fifth in strikeouts per nine innings (9.32). Through 17 games (16 starts), Cosart leads the RedHawks with seven wins, 87.2 innings, and 90 strikeouts.
Stoffel, a relief pitcher from Agoura, Calif., was one of 17 players on the roster selected by the PCL office. He has a 1.89 ERA this season in 23 relief appearances. He has struck out 27 hitters in 33.1 innings pitched and allowed just seven earned runs. Stoffel has allowed one run or less in all 23 of his outings this season for the RedHawks, and he is holding opponents to a .168 batting average.
Both players were also named Texas League Mid-Season All-Stars last year while playing for Double-A Corpus Christi.
The Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network at 8:05 p.m. central time.
