
Four Express Selected to Represent PCL in All-Star Game

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Pacific Coast League announced Tuesday that four members of the Round Rock Express will head to Reno, Nevada for the 26th annual Triple-A All-Star game to be held on Wednesday, July 17.
Closer Cory Burns will make his first All-Star appearance at the Triple-A level and fourth in professional baseball. Burns has racked up a team-best 15 saves in 16 opportunities, ranking him tied for fifth in the league at time of print. The right-hander has allowed runs in just two of his 24 appearances, posting a 1.14 ERA. He has also registered 31 strikeouts in 23.2 innings of work for an 11.79 strikeouts per nine ratio. Burns has also been named a New York Penn League and Eastern League all-star throughout his career.
Outfielder Joey Butler makes his second consecutive appearance at the Triple-A All-Star game after the 2012 Express MVP participated in last season's Minor League Midsummer Classic. At the time of his selection, Butler was batting .328 which ranked him second on the team while leading the E-Train with a .405 on-base percentage. Butler also earned the Rangers' Minor League Player of the Month award for April after batting .341 with six doubles, three homers and 12 RBI over the season's first month. Butler also was named a Texas League midseason all-star in 2010 with Double-A Frisco.
Starting pitcher Brad Mills has been selected to the PCL All-Star Game for the second time in his career, also making an appearance in 2011 as a member of the Las Vegas 51's (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate). Mills' seven wins are tied for the team-lead and also rank him tied for third in the league. At the time of his selection, the southpaw ranked second among PCL opponents with a 1.19 WHIP and had logged a team-best 81.0 innings of work, posting eight quality starts. Along with his 2013 and 2011 all-star nods, Mills also made an appearance in the 2008 Midwestern League All-Star game as a member of the Lansing Lugnuts (Class-A).
Infielder Yangervis Solarte will also make the trip to Reno, the second midseason all-star nod of his career after being selected to the Eastern League All-Star game in 2011 with the New Britain Rock Cats. Solarte has been an offensive juggernaut for the Express, leading the team with 10 home runs, 54 RBI, 46 runs scored and 101 hits. The Valencia, Venezuela native has registered a .307 batting average at the time of his selection and ranks in the top five in multiple league leading categories including games played (83) and at-bats (329).
Filling out the rest of the PCL All-Star roster is elected players Rene Rivera (C - Tucson), Brock Peterson (1B - Memphis), Wilmer Flores (2B - Las Vegas), Matt Davidson (3B - Reno), Chris Owings (SS - Reno), Michael Choice (OF - Sacramento), Nick "Chili" Buss (OF - Albuquerque), Brett Pill (DH - Fresno Grizzlies), Sonny Gray (P - Sacramento), Jared Cosart (P - Oklahoma City), Chris Hatcher (P - New Orleans), Rob Wooten (P - Nashville). The selected reserve players are Johnny Monell (C - Fresno), Tuffy Gosewisch (C - Reno), Efren Navarro (INF - Salt Lake), Grant Green (INF - Sacramento), Dean Anna (INF - Tucson), Ryan Wheeler (INF - Colorado Springs), Carlos Peguero (OF - Tacoma), Roger Kieschnick (OF - Fresno), Michael Wacha (P - Memphis), Chris Rusin (P - Iowa), Brian Moran (P - Tacoma), Colt Hynes (P - Tucson), Louis Coleman (P - Omaha), Jason Stoffel (P - Oklahoma City).
