April 4, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that they will host their game in the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs South Division Quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 11th at 7:00 pm. Charlotte will face either the South Carolina Stingrays or the Greenville Grrrowl.
The Checkers have two games remaining and need only one point to clinch fifth-place in the South Division. Charlotte can lock up fifth place as early as Friday with a win or an overtime/shootout loss at Columbia or if Augusta loses to Greenville.
If the Checkers finish in fifth place they will face South Carolina in a best-of-three series that begins Apr. 10 at North Charleston, S.C. Game Two would be Apr. 11 in Charlotte and Game Three, if necessary, would be in North Charleston, S.C. on Apr. 13.
If Augusta wins both of its games against Greenville and Gwinnett and Charlotte loses both of its games in regulation, the Checkers would finish in sixth place in the South Division and would face Greenville in a best-of-three series. The dates for games at Greenville have not been determined, but Charlotte would still host Game Two on Apr. 11.
Playoff tickets are on sale now and may be purchased by calling (704) 342-4-ICE. For more information please call the Checkers at (704) 342-4423 or visit www.gocheckers.com.
