FRESNO, Calif. - In a vote of coaches around the league, Alex Leavitt has been selected to the 2006 ECHL All-Rookie Team.

Leavitt, currently one point behind D'Arcy McConvey of Idaho in the race for the league scoring title, earned a trip to the ECHL All-Star Game in January, where he scored a goal as his National Conference squad defeated the Americans, 7-6. He also earned CCM Rookie of the Month honors for January, when he racked up 23 points (4g-19a) as Alaska went 12-2 to take over first place in the West Division. The 21-year-old Edmonton native is trying to become the first rookie in 15 years and only the third ever in the history of the ECHL to lead the league in scoring, with 85 points on 24 goals and an ECHL-best 61 assists heading into tonight's game at Fresno.

Meanwhile, Chris Minard has been re-assigned to the Aces by Albany (AHL), the club who owns his contract. Minard, who led the ECHL with 49 goals a year ago and finished second in the league scoring race and MVP voting, scored 25 goals in Alaska's first 29 games this year before being called up to the River Rats, where he scored seven goals and assisted on 12 others in 37 games. Having just arrived in Fresno, he may not play against the Falcons, who are unbeaten in their last six games (5-0-1), but should be in the lineup when the Aces tangle with Stockton tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. AST.

Alaska meets Pacific Division Fresno tonight at 6:00 p.m. AST, the first of four games in five nights to close out the regular season for the Aces (50-11-7), who need three wins to clinch their second straight West Division title. All Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com, where all home games and selected road contests also are available on a pay-per-view basis, courtesy of B2 Networks.
