
2005-06 ECHL All-Rookie Team Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Tuesday announced its All-Rookie Team for
2005-06 as determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a
goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards. A rookie is a player who has
played in less than 25 professional games.

F - Sean Collins, Wheeling Nailers (60 gp, 26g, 48a, 74 pts, +19)
F - Alex Leavitt, Alaska Aces (68 gp, 24g, 61a, 85 pts, +25)
F - Daniel Sisca, Florida Everblades (69 gp, 28g, 50a, 78 pts, +29)
D - T.J. Kemp, Reading Royals (60 gp, 13g, 26a, 39 pts, +12)
D - Jonathan Awe, Gwinnett Gladiators (46 gp, 13g, 21a, 34 pts, +19)
G - Andy Franck, Wheeling Nailers (51 gp, 30-14-5, 2.30 GAA, .918

Wheeling forward Sean Collins is second among ECHL rookies with 32
power-play points and is third among first-year players with 19 power-play
assists, 48 assists and 74 points in 60 games. He leads the Nailers with 48
assists, 74 points and 32 power-play points and is tied for the team lead
with 13 power-play goals while ranking second with 26 goals and a
plus-minus rating of +19. Selected in the ninth round (289th overall) by
the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 23-year-old is
under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League and
he has one assist and two penalty minutes in eight games for the Penguins.
Collins was voted to the All-Star Game by American Conference coaches and
fans chose him as the 2006 Rbk Hockey All-Star Idol in online voting
following the game.
Alaska center Alex Leavitt is second in the ECHL with 85 points and
he is trying to become the first rookie in 15 years and only the third in
league history to lead the ECHL in scoring. The 22-year-old leads ECHL
rookies with 85 points, 61 assists, 33 power-play assists and 44
power-play points and he is second in plus-minus rating with +25. He is
tied for the overall league lead with 61 assists while ranking second with
33 power-play assists and 44 power-play points. Leavitt was voted to the
All-Star Game, scoring a goal in the National Conference's 7-6 win, and he
was named CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for January.
Florida center Daniel Sisca leads ECHL rookies with six shorthand
points, three shorthand goals and in plus-minus rating with +29 while he is
second with 50 assists, 23 power-play assists and 78 points and third with
31 power-play points in 69 games. The 22-year-old, who was voted to the
All-Star Game by American Conference coaches, is fifth overall in the
league in plus-minus rating with +29 and he is eighth overall in the league
in scoring with 78 points. He leads the Everblades in assists, points,
shorthand points and plus-minus rating and is tied for the team lead with
28 goals.
T.J. Kemp of Reading is tied for fourth among ECHL defensemen with
13 goals while he is tied for fifth with three game-winning goals and is
tied for 12th with 39 points in 60 games. The 24-year-old is currently on
call up to Bridgeport of the AHL and he has also played in the AHL with
Peoria, Iowa and Milwaukee.
Jon Awe of Gwinnett is tied for fourth among ECHL defensemen with 13
goals and he has 34 points (13g-21a) in 46 games. The 25-year-old has also
played in the AHL where he has one assist and eight penalty minutes in 17
games with Portland while also playing one game for Providence.
Wheeling goaltender Andy Franck is 30-14-5 and is tied for the ECHL
lead with five shutouts in 51 games. The 24-year-old, who is under contract
to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL, is third in the league with a
goals-against average of 2.30 and 2,980 minutes and is tied for third with
30 wins while ranking fifth with 1,268 saves. He was selected to the
All-Star Game and stopped seven of eight shots faced in the second period
for the American Conference.
