Gulls Blood Drive This Friday

April 4, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
San Diego Gulls News Release

The San Diego Gulls are hosting the San Diego Blood Bank's bloodmobile on Friday, April 7, from 2 to 6:30 p.m. in the ipayOne Center parking lot. The Gulls are asking fans to donate blood that will help save the life of one of the team's biggest "little" fans, two-year-old Aiden McCurdy.

Aiden was diagnosed with hemophilia type C this past holiday season. Unlike other types of hemophilia, there is no preventative medication for hemophilia type C. For that reason, little Aiden must rely on multiple blood transfusions to stay healthy enough to attend the Gulls games, his favorite past time.

Aiden hopes to be healthy enough to be at the blood drive with his family to thank donors for helping save his life. The Gulls will also express their appreciation to all blood donors at the drive by awarding them each a two-for-one ticket voucher for that night's game. Anyone who is at least 17 years old, in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood. A good meal is recommended prior to donation. For more information or to schedule an appointment to donate blood please call 1-800-4MY-SDBB or visit http://www.sandiegobloodbank.org.
