Gladiators blanked by 'Glades 3-0

The Gwinnett Gladiators were shutout for the first time at home since the regular season opener, as they were blanked 3-0 by the Florida Everblades on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gladiators and Everblades skated scoreless through the first period. The up tempo opening period saw very few stoppages in play.

In the second period,Florida jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the strength of a pair of power play goals.

Vince Bellissimo posted the Everblades first power play goal 2:47 into the second. Wide open in the slot, Bellissimo took a pass from Ryan Brindley and ripped the puck into the upper right corner past Gwinnett netminder Adam Berkhoel. Steve Saviano also had an assist on the marker.

Tyson Teplitsky had the Everblades' second power play goal of the period, beating Berkhoel to the near post for the goal. Dustin Johner and Saviano hooked up to pick up the assists on the goal at 8:06 of the second period.

Florida put the Gladiators away with a shorthanded goal with 2:46 left in the third period. Johner finished a 2-on-1 break with Phil Aucoin to post the game's final goal.

Gwinnett was held scoreless on the man advantage for the third time in their last four games. Adam Berkhoel made 22 saves in the loss as the netminder falls to 10-4-1 on the year.
