Brodeur joins Rampage

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed defenseman Mathieu Brodeur to an entry level contract. He will report to the Coyotes' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Brodeur, 19, appeared in 65 games for Cape Breton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) this season, recording 4-25-29 with 31 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +21 rating. In his third season with Cape Breton, Brodeur set career-highs in goals, assists, points, PIM and plus/minus. He also appeared in five playoff games with Cape Breton this season.

In 195 career games with Cape Breton, the 6-foot-6, 222-pound Brodeur collected 8-43-51 with 73 PIM and a +31 rating. He also recorded 1-3-4 in 27 career QMJHL playoff games. A native of Laval, Quebec, Brodeur was originally selected by the Coyotes in the third round (76th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He will report to the Coyotes' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
