
Providence Brings In Two From College

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have signed goaltender Nevin Hamilton from the UMass-Lowell River Hawks and Brian Roloff of the University of Vermont Catamounts to Amateur Tryout Agreements. With the moves, the P-Bruins have 26 players on their roster, including 15 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders.
Hamilton, 24, recently concluded his senior season at UMass-Lowell, finishing the campaign with a 6-4-2 record in 13 games, along with a 2.91 goals-against-average and .905 save percentage. The Red Hawks' campaign ended on March 14 in the Hockey East Quarterfinals at the hands of the Maine Black Bears. Hamilton's best stretch of the season came from October 23, 2009 - November 21, 2009, when he went 4-0-1, allowing only 12 goals over five outings. In his four seasons, the Ashland, Massachusetts, native compiled a 28-23-6 mark with a 2.46 GAA and .913 save percentage. Hamilton's best season came as a junior when the undrafted net-minder appeared in a career-high 19 games with personal-bests in wins (10), GAA (2.15) and save percentage (.925%).
Roloff, 23, also wrapped up his senior season this year as Vermont fell to the Wisconsin Badgers on March 26 in the NCAA West Regional Semifinals at St. Paul, Minnesota. The undrafted forward finished third on the Catamounts in scoring with 27 points, including nine goals and 18 assists in 39 games. He also added six multiple-point games. Over his four years, Roloff registered 79 points (26g, 53a) in 145 contests. The West Seneca, New York, had his best season as a junior, scoring 29 points with career-highs in goals (10) and assists (19) in 39 outings.
Providence gets back into action with three games this weekend, beginning tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center against the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. for Keychain Night. Keychains are free to the first 1,000 fans in attendance. On Saturday, the P-Bruins travel to New Hampshire to face the Manchester Monarchs for a 7 p.m. tilt, and then take on the Portland Pirates on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Maine.
