Bohmbach Named to All-Rookie Team

(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce that Andy Bohmbach has been named to the ECHL All-Rookie team for the 2010-11 season.

The team was determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards.

A rookie is defined as a player who has played in less than 25 professional games prior to the start of the current season.

D ‚¬" Mark Isherwood, Alaska Aces (67 gp, 14g, 20a, 34 pts., +2)

D ‚¬" Bobby Raymond, Florida Everblades (69 gp, 7g, 24a, 31 pts., +25)

F ‚¬" Andy Bohmbach, Toledo Walleye (62 gp, 25g, 43a, 68 pts., +12)

F ‚¬"Kael Mouillierat, Idaho Steelheads (59 gp, 24g, 35a, 59 pts., +10)

F ‚¬" Ben Street, Wheeling Nailers (38 gp, 24g, 27a, 51 pts., +21)

Andy Bohmbach of the Toledo Walleye leads all rookies with 43 assists, 18 power-play assists and 68 points while ranking second among first-year players with 25 goals. He represented the Walleye at the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, tallying one assist in the ECHL All-Stars 9-3 win. Bohmbach, who is assigned to Toledo by Rockford of the American Hockey League, has two assists in five games with the IceHogs.

Since the ECHL began naming the All-Rookie Team in 2000-01, 13 players selected have gone to play in the National Hockey League: Richard Bachman (2009-10), David Desharnais (2007-08), Cedrick Desjardins (2006-07), Kevin Doell (2003-04), Brian Fahey (2003-04), Vern Fiddler (2002-03), Simon Gamache (2001-02), Mike Glumac (2002-03), Adam Hauser (2002-03), Jason Jaffray (2002-03), Anton Khudobin (2007-08), Joey Tenute (2004-05) and Zenon Konopka (2002-03).

The ECHL will announce its First-Team All-ECHL and Second-Team All-ECHL teams on Thursday.
