Stingrays Fall 4-1 to Everblades

Estero, FL -The South Carolina Stingrays (35-29-3-3) opened a three-game series against the Florida Everblades (37-29-1-3) Wednesday night falling 4-1 in front of 4,740 at Germain Arena.

Everblades forward Mathieu Roy broke open the scoring on the power play at 15:58 of the first period deflecting a shot from defenseman Bobby Raymond past Stingrays goaltender Todd Ford. Forward Alexandre Imbeault received the second assist.

The Everblades added two goals in the second frame to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission. Forward Alex Hutchings gave the Everblades a two-goal lead at 16:27 from forwards Ian McDonald and Ross Carlson. Roy added a late tally at 19:48 from forward Drew Larman and defenseman David Fischer.

The Stingrays jumped on the board at 6:54 of the third period when forward Trent Campbell buried a pass from forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien past netminder Mike Zacharias from the top of the right-wing circle. Forward Tim Spencer reclaimed the three-goal cushion for the Everblades at 18:00 from Fischer and Roy.

Ford suffered his third straight loss stopping 18 of 22 Everblades shots. Zacharias picked up the victory kicking away 34 of 35 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays ended the night 0-for-3 on the power play while the Everblades went 1-for-3.
