Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced today the ECHL has named G Brian Stewart to the 2010-11 ECHL All-Rookie Team.
Stewart, 26, is just one day removed from claiming ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors, and just had his team-record 10-game winning streak snapped.
He ranks 2nd in the league with a 2.30 goals against average and leads the league with a .925 save percentage. Stewart is 2nd among rookie goalies with 19 wins on the season, and has a 17-5-0 record with the Condors (after starting the season with Greenville). Last Saturday, the Burnaby, British Columbia native earned his first professional shutout with a 24-save effort in a 2-0 triumph over the Las Vegas Wranglers.
Stewart is under contract to the Philadelphia Flyers, who assigned him to Bakersfield on Jan. 7.
The Condors have had three ECHL All-Rookie Team selections, with Stewart joining Mark Derlago (2008-09) and Todd Griffith (2006-07), and in 2002-03 they landed two players on the West Coast Hockey League All-Rookie Team: Jason Jackman and Jonas Lennartsson.
Upcoming Schedule:
The Condors road trip continues tonight in Ontario at 7 p.m. and two games in Utah (both at 6:05 p.m. Pacific) on Friday and Saturday night. Tune in to the broadcast tonight on Fox Sports 970 AM, starting at 6:45 p.m. with "Condors Countdown".
The Condors have locked up a playoff spot, and now battle to determine positioning. Regardless of their first round opponent, however, they will return home to host Game 3 of the best-of-five series on Friday, Apr. 8, and Game 4, if necessary, on Saturday, Apr. 9. Both games would start at 7 p.m.
