ECHL Announces All-Rookie Team

PRINCETON, N.J. ‚¬" The ECHL on Wednesday announced its All-Rookie Team for 2010-11 as determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards.

A rookie is defined as a player who has played in less than 25 professional games prior to the start of the current season.

D ‚¬" Mark Isherwood, Alaska Aces (67 gp, 14g, 20a, 34 pts., +2)

D ‚¬" Bobby Raymond, Florida Everblades (69 gp, 7g, 24a, 31 pts., +25)

F ‚¬" Andy Bohmbach, Toledo Walleye (62 gp, 25g, 43a, 68 pts., +12)

F ‚¬"Kael Mouillierat, Idaho Steelheads (59 gp, 24g, 35a, 59 pts., +10)

Since the ECHL began naming the All-Rookie Team in 2000-01, 13 players selected have gone to play in the National Hockey League: Richard Bachman (2009-10), David Desharnais (2007-08), Cedrick Desjardins (2006-07), Kevin Doell (2003-04), Brian Fahey (2003-04), Vern Fiddler (2002-03), Simon Gamache (2001-02), Mike Glumac (2002-03), Adam Hauser (2002-03), Jason Jaffray (2002-03), Anton Khudobin (2007-08), Joey Tenute (2004-05) and Zenon Konopka (2002-03).

The ECHL will announce its First-Team All-ECHL and Second-Team All-ECHL teams on Thursday.

Brian Stewart of the Bakersfield Condors is 19-6-0 and leads all ECHL goaltenders with a .925 save percentage and is second with a 2.30 goals-against average. He helped lead the Condors to a team-record 11-game winning streak from March 4-26, and set a team record with a personal 10-game winning streak during that span. Stewart, who is under contract to the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, has also appeared in 10 games with Adirondack of the American Hockey League this season going 4-5-0 with a 3.05 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage.

Mark Isherwood of the Alaska Aces leads all rookie defensemen with 14 goals and 34 points. His 11 power-play goals and 24 power-play points rank first among all ECHL defensemen, while also leading rookies in both categories. Isherwood is under contract to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.

Bobby Raymond of the Florida Everblades leads ECHL defensemen and rookies with a +25, which is good enough for second overall in the league. Raymond has 31 points (7g-24a) this season, which is tied for 12th among ECHL defensemen. He is the only Everblade to appear in all 69 of the team ‚¬â„¢s games this season.

Andy Bohmbach of the Toledo Walleye leads all rookies with 43 assists, 18 power-play assists and 68 points while ranking second among first-year players with 25 goals. He represented the Walleye at the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, tallying one assist in the ECHL All-Stars 9-3 win. Bohmbach, who is assigned to Toledo by Rockford of the American Hockey League, has two assists in five games with the IceHogs.

Kael Mouillierat of the Idaho Steelheads is second among rookies with 59 points, third with 35 assists and tied for third with 24 goals. His 10 power-play goals are tied for second among rookies while his 20 power-play points are third among first-year players. Mouillieart was named to the ECHL All-Stars for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic, but was unable to play due to being loaned to Texas of the American Hockey League. He tallied two assists in six games with the Stars.

Ben Street of the Wheeling Nailers ranks fifth among rookies with 51 points and is tied for third with 24 goals despite playing in just 38 games. Under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, Street was recalled by the Penguins on Feb. 3 and has 19 points (12g-7a) in 29 AHL games this season. He also represented the Nailers at the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic, tallying one assist.
