Blues Acquire Jonathan Filewich From Pittsburgh

Peoria, Ill. (December 19, 2008) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has acquired forward Jonathan Filewich from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a conditional 6th round draft choice in 2010.

In a separate move, Cam Paddock has been assigned to the Rivermen from St. Louis.

Filewich, 24, has played in 19 games this season with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, recording four points (two goals, two assists) and six penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-2, 208-pound right winger made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh, skating in five games. In addition to his time in the NHL, he also appeared in 71 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, registering 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) and 44 penalty minutes.

The Kelowna, British Columbia native was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the 3rd round, 70th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Filewich will report to the Blues' AHL affiliate Peoria Rivermen.
