Crunch Center Nikita Filatov Named to Team Russia 2009 World Junior Championship Roster

Syracuse, NY (December 19, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that center Nikita Filatov has been named to Team Russia's World Junior Championship roster.

Filatov, 18, has appeared in 23 games for the Crunch this season, tallying seven goals, 10 assists and 10 penalty minutes. He has also skated in four games for Columbus this year, notching his first NHL goal in his first NHL contest on October 17 vs. Nashville.

A native of Moscow, Russia, Filatov picked up nine points (4g, 5a) in seven games, helping Team Russia to a bronze medal finish at the 2008 World Junior Championships. He was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
