December 19, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release
DES MOINES, IA - (December 19, 2008) - Iowa Chops President Steve Nitzel has announced that the Iowa Chops will bring back the Apprentice Hockey League beginning in January. Running the competition for the second straight season will be Tana Goertz, who is best known as a finalist in the hit reality TV shows 'The Apprentice' and 'Fear Factor'. Tana will facilitate each task and choose the winner for the competition, along with help from the Iowa Chops staff. Tana is a resident of the Des Moines area and a big fan of hockey and the Iowa Chops.
Applications to be one of the 50 contestants are now being taken and can be filled out at any of the Iowa Chops home games beginning this Saturday, December 20th as the Chops host the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05pm at the Wells Fargo Arena. Fans can also fill out an official Apprentice Hockey League application at the official website of the Iowa Chops at www.iowachops.com. The 50 finalists will be chosen by Tana Goertz and notified after December 31st.
The competition will be a series of seven tasks that will test the contestants on their creative, marketing and promotion abilities, much the like real 'Apprentice' TV show. Contestants will be cut after each task ultimately leading to one champion to be named toward the end of the regular season in April. Contestants need to be those with type 'A' personalities who want their chance to shine in the spotlight with a chance to win over $10,000 worth in prizes and maybe even a new job!
Tana Goertz is an internationally-recognized entrepreneur, leader, project manager, speaker, author, and coach. She is currently in high-demand as a business development facilitator, coach, and inspirational speaker in the US and Canadian corporate and educational sectors. Tana has summed up what she does in eight short words - "I help people attract success into their lives". Donald Trump has stated that Tana has '"that rare combination of laid-back charm and razor sharp execution. She doesn't put up with nonsense."
