Salmon Kings travel to Powell River to take on the Regals in exhibition

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings are happy to announce their pre-season exhibition schedule. Victoria will travel to Powell River for two games, Saturday October 15th (8:00pm) and Sunday October 16, 2005 (4:00pm) to play the Senior AAA Powell River Regals. The Regals are two time Allan Cup Champions and are one of the most successful Senior AAA teams in the country.

"The Regals Hockey Club is excited to host the Salmon Kings and look forward to being competitive and putting on a great show. It's going to be an thrilling year for hockey in Powell River and this is a great opportunity to kick off the season," said General Manager of the Regals, Scott Mastrodonato.

The Salmon Kings training camp is now underway and with 28 players in town skating for the first time on the ice at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre Friday morning.

"It is important we have a couple of exhibition games to get an opportunity to evaluate the players who will make the Salmon Kings this season," said Bryan Maxwell, Head Coach and General Manager of the Victoria Salmon Kings.

The Regals will be no push over for the Salmon Kings as the 2006 Allan Cup hosts are made up of mostly Collegiate/University and former Professional players who have moved on from playing hockey full time, to pursue family and careers in other occupations.

The Regals won the Allan Cup in 1997 and 2000. They have won the Senior AAA British Columbia Championships (Savage Cup) 10 times (1995-2003 and 2005) and in 2001 represented Canada at the Nagano Cup in Nagano, Japan.

The Regals will play an 18 game schedule to prepare for the Allan Cup from April 17 - 22, 2006.

Tickets Prices for the two exhibition games are:

Adults - $10.00

Students/Seniors - $8.00

Kids 6-12 - $6.00

Kids under 6 - Free

The Victoria Salmon Kings 2005-06 schedule begins on the road in Fresno against the Falcons on Friday October 21, 2005. Their first game in the brand new Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is against the Stockton Thunder on Thursday November 10, 2005.

Directions to the Powell River Recreation Complex:

Off the Vancouver Island ferry

Take a left on Marine Ave (coming off ferry)

Stay on Marine and turn right at intersection onto to Alberni Street

Up the hill until set of lights

Take a left at on Joyce

Signs will direct you to Recreation Complex (across from hospital)

Can't miss it, 3 minute drive from ferry.
