Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen Added to 2026 USA Basketball Women's National Team Roster

August 31, 2026 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado: USA Basketball announced today that Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen have been added to 2026 USA Women's National Team, which will compete at the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup set to begin in Berlin on Sept. 4. Kelsey Plum and A'ja Wilson, both two-time World Cup gold medalists, are no longer able to compete in Berlin due to health reasons. Citron will make her USA Basketball senior debut in Berlin. Shakira Austin Named Kia WNBA Eastern Conference

August 11, 2026 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - The WNBA announced today that Washington Mystics center Shakira Austin has been named the Kia WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Aug. 3-9, 2026. This is the second WNBA weekly honor of Austin's career (June 24, 2025). Additionally, Austin was named the Associated Press WNBA Player of the Week for the second week in a row. August 8, 2026 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Mystics have claimed guard/forward Betnijah Laney-Hamilton (buh-NYE-juh) off waivers, the team announced today. The 2024 WNBA champion owns career averages of 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 251 games (160 starts) over 10 seasons with the New York Liberty (2021-24, 2026), Atlanta Dream (2020), Indiana Fever (2019), Connecticut Sun (2018), and Chicago Sky (2015-16).
