Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves hosted the high-flying London Knights Friday night for the one and only time this season, falling 8-1 to the visitors. It wasn't the Wolves' Knight as London scored five goals in the opening period, and the Wolves were unable to recover. Friday night was also the Wolves' annual Teddy Bear Toss.

The Knights came out of the gates quickly in the opening period, scoring twice in the first five minutes of the game. The Wolves tried to respond and generated some good chances, but couldn't beat London's goaltender. Their best chance came when DMITRY SOKOLOV fired a shot off the post halfway through the first. The Knights continued the offensive push late in the period, scoring three goals in 40 seconds. Despite the goals, TROY TIMPANO did everything he could for his team and never stopped battling. After the 1st period, shots on goal were 19-7 in favour of London.

The Knights continued their strong play in the second period as Cliff Pu, and Christian Dvorak both scored their second goals of the game, to help the Knights open up an 8-0 lead. However, the Wolves would not give up. First year forward MACAULEY CARSON scored the Teddy Bear Goal for the Wolves. It was also his first career OHL goal with fellow rookie BEN GARAGAN and defenceman ZACH WILKIE picking up the assists. At the end of the 2nd, the shots on goal were 29-20 for the Knights.

The Wolves battled in the 3rd period, but were unable to get anything past the Knights goalie. TROY TIMPANO also continued to put up a fight for his team. Standout performers for the Knights were Christian Dvorak and Matthew Tkachuk who each had 4 points. Final shots were 43-36 in favour of London.

The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank all of the fans in attendance for helping collect 1216 stuffed animals for the TD Toy Bank which will be distributed to the Salvation Army.

The Wolves will now hit the road for two games to wrap up the weekend. On Saturday, December 12th, they will stop in Owen Sound to battle the Attack at 7:30PM before travelling to Guelph on Sunday, December 13th to take on the Storm at 2:00PM. Wolves' fans can follow all of the action on the road by tuning into the live play-by-play with Stew Kernan on 95.5 KFM.

The Wolves will return home after the Christmas break, on Tuesday, December 29th against the Niagara IceDogs. Tickets are available at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling (705)-671-3000, or online at greatersudbury.ca/tickets.
