Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONT. - The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club announced today that the annual school day game has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, February 10th at 10:30 a.m. when the Bulldogs take on the Niagara IceDogs at FirstOntario Centre.
The game, originally scheduled for November 4 th, was postponed earlier in the school year. Team President Steve Staios is pleased to have the match back on the schedule, "The school day game has always been a great success and I know the team is excited to host thousands of students from the Hamilton area."
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton-Wentworth District Catholic School Board will be involved again this year.
Aaron Puley, School Climate and Engagement Consultant at HWDSB, was happy that organizers were able to work together and find an alternate day for the game. "The game is an exciting part of the school year for more than 15,000 students in grades 4 to 6," Puley said. "It represents the culmination of three weeks of related learning in HWDSB classrooms." Puley explained that the multi-faceted learning component includes "a literacy program and innovative collaboration using a blogging tool that extends learning beyond the classroom as students are able to interact with players."
Sandra Scime is the Assistant Superintendent of Education with the HWCDSB, "We are pleased to continue the tradition of this partnership with the Bulldogs for another season. The game adds a fun, interactive experience for our students that they look forward to every year."
Last year close to 13,000 kids attended the school day game with a crowd of over 10,000 expected again this year.
The Bulldogs host the Peterborough Petes for their annual Toy Toss Game this Friday, December 11th . Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed toy to the game and throw it on the ice after the Bulldogs score their first goal. All fans who bring a plush toy to the game will also receive a complimentary ticket to an upcoming Bulldogs home game. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
