IceDogs Drop Heartbreaker to Oshawa 3-2
December 11, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to the Oshawa Generals in Oshawa on Friday night.
The game got off to a tough start for the IceDogs as Oshawa would strike only 21 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The IceDogs would bounce back however as Jordan Maletta would take a great feed from Josh Ho-Sang and make no mistake, roofing a powerplay goal to tie things up at one after one. Shots after 20 were 11-10 Oshawa.
The IceDogs would come out flying in the second, outshooting the Generals 18-3 in the period and would be rewarded for their efforts just past the midpoint of the period when Maletta would put home his second powerplay goal of the game to give the IceDogs a 2-1 lead that they would carry into the third.
The third period would see the IceDogs once again carry the play for the majority of the frame, but unfortunately for the IceDogs, a pair of penalties would be capitalized on by the Generals who would score twice on the powerplay in a span of 46 seconds to take a 3-2 lead. The IceDogs would fight hard for the equalizer late, but it was not to be as they would ultimately fall by that same 3-2 score. Final shots were 35-18 IceDogs.
The IceDogs will now return to St. Catharines where they will play host to the visiting Sudbury Wolves on Thursday, December 17th for their final home game before the holidays. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location!
