Saginaw Spirit News Release
GUELPH, ON, CAN - On Friday night, the Saginaw Spirit (11-16-1-1, 5th West Division) take on the Guelph Storm (2-25-1-0, 5th Midwest Division) at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph, Ontario.
Friday night's matchup is the second of four this season between the Spirit and the Storm. On October 3rd, the Spirit were led at hat trick by Mitchell Stephens and multi-point efforts from six different players en route to an 8-5 win at The Dow Event Center.
The Storm have lost 10 straight games overall coming into tonight's battle with the Saginaw Spirit. Their last victory came on November 7th in Flint against the Flint Firebirds. Guelph is led by Captain C.J. Garcia and scoring leader Tyler Boston.
The Saginaw Spirit's second round pick defenseman Robert Proner will make his OHL debut tonight in Guelph. Proner has 11 points in 26 games with the Cambridge Winter Hawks Jr. B team so far this season.
"Robert is a highly thought of prospect in our organization and will be a big part of our future." said Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill. "We asked him to go to Jr B and play a ton of minutes and work on his game. He has done everything we have asked and has earned his call up for tonight's game in Guelph. We are excited for him to get his first game in the OHL."
