Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack fell for the 7th straight game when they were defeated by the Kitchener Rangers by a score of 6-1 on Friday, Dec. 11.

Friday night's game marked just the first time all season that a match up between the Midwest Division Rivals was settled in regulation, with all three previous meetings needing overtime to find a winner.

The Rangers used their home ice advantage to strike first, finding pay-dirt on a redirection with 4:31 having expired in the first period.

Attack netminder Michael McNiven was fooled on a shot from the point by Kitchener defenceman Miles Liberati that took a weird hop in front of the net before bouncing into the Owen Sound cage for the 1-0 lead.

Jacob Cascagnette doubled the Rangers lead just about 10 minutes later on another bouncing puck that caused a mad scramble in the crease. A wrist shot by Nick McHugh sent the puck towards McNiven who made the initial save before the puck rattled around before being knocked in by Cascagnette with 5:15 left on the clock in the opening frame.

Owen Sound would start the 2nd period with a pair of early grade-A chances, but it would be the Rangers who opened the scoring in the middle stanza thanks to Mason Kohn scoring on his own rebound just 1:18 into the period.

David Miller would then put the home side up by four at the 3:33 mark of the frame, scoring from the low slot after receiving a pass from Adam Mascherin.

The Attack would get on the board though, and it would eventually come courtesy the stick of captain Santino Centorame.

On their 2nd Baywest Nissan Powerplay of the evening, Centorame was the benificiary of a tic-tac-toe play that started with Bryson Cianfrone feeding Josh Sterk who found the Captain, who blased a slapshot behind Luke Richardson with 9:43 gone in the 2nd period.

Kitchener restored their four goal advantage with another fast start to a frame, this time finding the back of the net thanks to Jeremy Bracco's 2nd chance effort just 1:31 into the final period.

Bracco would then pick up his 2nd goal of the evening fresh out of the 3rd period's tv timeout, tucking home a wraparound with 8:21 left in the game's action.

Kitchener's sixth goal of the game would be the evening's final marker and give Bracco the distinction of Mac Taylor Corporation 1st Star of the Game thanks to a two goal, two assit evening.

Rangers' netminder Luke Richardson would pick up 2nd star honours thanks to his 39 save outing, while Ryan MacInnis was named the game's 3rd star.

Despite falling 6-1, the Attack found themselves on top of the Mark McDade Remax Shots on Goal by a standing of 40-33 at the end of the game.

The Attack will return to the Bayshore on Saturday, Dec. 12 for a 7:30pm contest against the Sudbury Wolves before wrapping up the weekend with an IPC Securities Sunday matchup against the Peterborough Petes on Dec. 13.

Game time on Sunday is set for 2:00pm and fans are reminded that the first 200 children in attendance will receive free popcorn, a pair of autographed jerseys can be won, and there is a post game skate and autograph session with the team.

Tickets for the games can be purchased at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
