Owen Sound Attack News Release
After four grilling games, the Owen Sound Attack have officially come to an end to the 2026 OHL Playoff season, falling 6-1 to the Flint Firebirds. With 6 of the 7 goals made in the 60 minutes of play, the Firebirds will now move onto the second round of playoffs, with the Attack now revving down for summer. In net for Flint was goaltender Mason Vaccari facing a total of 31 shots making 30 saves. For the Attack, Matthew Koprowski would take to the stand making 29 saves of 35 shots.
Nathan Aspinall would make his 5th of the playoff series early in the first frame opening the score 1-0. Following suite, Firebirds teammate Jacob Battaglia (4) would go for another Flint powerplay goal with under five left in the period leaving the score to sit 2-0 Flint going into the first intermission.
Coming out of the gate with new found energy, the Attack would find their powerplay advantage. Gaining possession of the puck John Banks would bring the puck in over the blueline passing to teammate Nicholas Sykora. Sykora finding an opening in through traffic would then pass off to Pierce Mbuyi making a one-timer. The Attack were now on the board 2-1 Flint. Firebirds would answer back with another two goals from Jimmy Lombardi (4) and Ihnat Pazii (2).
An unfortunate third period plagued the Attack having no luck with puck possession, finding themselves heavily on defence in their own zone. Battaglia (5) would make his second goal of the game assisted by Aspinall and Kostov followed by a nail in the coffin by Aspinall (6) making the Firebirds 6-1 leading score.
The Attack office will now begin the transition into off-season operating hours, Monday-Friday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM starting Tuesday April 7th, 2026. Looking forward in the calendar year, the Annual Attack BBQ is set to be held Jun 27, 2026, with tickets set to go on sale April 27th.
