Flint, MI - Following an overtime win in Windsor last night, the Steelheads crossed over the border into Michigan to face off against the Flint Firebirds in a Friday night showdown. The Steelheads and Firebirds met at the Hershey Centre back on October 4th where Flint came out on top in a 2-1 victory. The Steelheads however, would be the victors tonight, scoring a goal in each period en route to a 3-0 win.

Mississauga had a number of power play opportunities in the opening frame before Nathan Bastian capitalized on the man advantage with his 12th of the season to put the Trout up 1-0. Michael McLeod and Owen Tippett picked up the assists on Bastian's goal.

In the second period, Michael McLeod scored his 15th of the season going shortside over Brent Moran's right shoulder to give the Steelheads a 2-0 lead. Alexander Nylander drew the assist on McLeod's goal as the Steelheads were up by two after 40 minutes of play.

Jack Flinn stood tall in the third as Flint looked to cut the deficit. With time winding down in the final frame, the Firebirds pulled Moran out of the net in favour of an extra attacker. Ryan McLeod would seal the deal with an empty net goal near the penalty boxes for the final tally of the night with 43 seconds remaining in the game.

The Steelheads, now 18-13-0-2, will have a few days off before travelling to North Bay to take on the Battalion on Thursday evening.
