Utah Grizzlies News Release

Bakersfield, California - The ECHL announced today that Utah Grizzlies rookie defenseman Andy Sertich has been named to the National Conference All-Star team for the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 17 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.

Sertich, who was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 5th round (136th overall) of the 2002 NHL entry draft, played four years of college hockey at the University of Minnesota, where he was part of their National Championship team in 2003.

The Minnesota native was moved from his original position of left wing to defense by Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie early in the season to cover a shortage at that position.

Sertich scored his first professional goal December 13, 2006 at the E-Center versus Idaho. He picked up an assist in his second professional game October 21 at Phoenix. The 23-year-old had a four-game scoring streak from November 3-November 8, in which he registered four assists. He is currently third on the Grizzlies with four power-play points, all assists. Overall, he has tallied one goal and six assists in 25 games for Utah.

The Grizzlies return to the ice tonight and tomorrow in Bakersfield. Face-offs are scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
