Grizzlies Rally 5-4 Past Bakersfield

Bakersfield California - Trailing 4-2 in the third period, the Utah Grizzlies (7-16-3) scored three-straight third period goals and defeated Bakersfield 5-4 Friday night. Ryan Kinasewich had three goals and one assist for Utah.

Utah took a 1-0 lead at 8:27 of the first with Ryan Kinasewich feeding Matt Craig for his eighth goal of the season and third in three games. Eric Nelson picked up the second assist on the goal. The Grizzlies went up 2-0 just over five minutes later at 13:34 when Kinasewich scored his 11th of year with Danny Stewart and Eric Nelson drawing helpers.

The second period belonged to Bakersfield as they scored two goals within twenty seconds of each other early in the frame to tie the game at two. Brett Lutes scored a power-play goal at 2:23 followed by a Josh Liebenow goal to tie the game at 2:43. The Condors took a 3-2 lead late in the second with a goal from Andrew Oke at 15:56.

In the third, Utah rallied with two straight power-play goals after Sean Venedam gave the Condors a 4-2 lead on a shorthanded goal at 2:35. The Grizzlies scored with Kinasewich adding a 5-on-3 goal at 3:02 and D.J. Jelitto at 4:43 to tie the game.

Utah went up 5-4, with Ryan Kinasewich redirecting an Eric Nelson shot in for the game-winner at 10:28 of the period. Jake Riddle picked up an assist as well.

Rob McVicar stopped 37 of 41 shots for the win.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that Utah rookie defenseman Andy Sertich has been named to the ECHL's National Conference All-Star team. The game will take place January 17 in Boise, Idaho.

The Grizzlies return to action tomorrow once again visiting the Condors. Face-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Utah returns home Saturday, December 30. Face-off at the E-Center is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
