December 22, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that left-wing Luke Curtin has been selected as a starter for the 2007 Rbk Hockey/ECHL All-Star Game, while rookie defenseman Tom Walsh has also been named to the National Conference team. The 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game takes place Wednesday, January 17, 2007 in Boise, Idaho, with the Skills Competition scheduled for Tuesday, January 16.

The 2007 All-Star Game marks the third consecutive season, and the fourth time overall, that Curtin has been selected as a starter. It is his fifth overall selection to the ECHL All-Star Game, which is the second most in league history. In last season's game in Fresno, Curtin earned Most Valuable Player honors after scoring two goals just 20 seconds apart in the first 45 seconds of the third period. Those two goals gave the National Conference a 5-2 lead on its way to a 7-6 win. Curtin is tied for the team lead with 26 points, and is tied for fifth in the ECHL with 22 assists.

Walsh will be making his first All-Star Game appearance in this, his rookie season. A fifth round selection by the San Jose Sharks in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Walsh was signed by the Falcons as a free agent over the summer, and earned an invitation to AHL training camp with the Worcester Sharks. Walsh signed an AHL deal with Worcester, and has appeared in four games with the Sharks, tallying one assist. In 16 games with the Falcons this season, the Harvard University graduate has one goal and four assists.

"It is a great honor for both Luke and Tom to be selected to the All-Star Game," Falcons Head Coach Matt Thomas said. "We are confident that they will do a great job representing the Falcons in Boise."

The Falcons are back in action tonight, hosting the Stockton Thunder for the first time this season at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all Falcons home games can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office, by phone at (559) 485-8497, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, or at any TicketMaster outlet. All Falcons games can be heard on 1550 Sporting News Radio and on-line at www.fresnofalcons.com starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show 15 minutes prior to game time.
