Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades Head Coach Gerry Fleming is out of action for two weeks because of surgery on his back, the team announced today. The team has handed the coaching reigns to Associate Coach Jason Nobili until he can return.

Fleming, 40, underwent the surgery, which was a success, earlier this morning and is expected to miss at least the next five Everblades games while recovering. In the meantime Nobili, who is in his third year as associate coach, will lead the team from behind the bench.

"Obviously our main concern is Gerry's health, and we were pleased to hear the surgery was a complete success." Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush said. "In the meantime, as an organization we have complete faith in Jason's ability to lead this team until Gerry can return."

In a separate move, the Everblades today suspended forward Dan Baum whom the team acquired in a trade with Phoenix yesterday. Baum refused to report to the Everblades, and thus was suspended.

The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, return to the ice tonight when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena. Florida Everblades individual & group tickets are now available! Reserve your seat for all the exciting action today by calling (239) 948-7825.
