Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah-The Utah Grizzlies scored fast and furious to end a five-game winless streak, defeating the Phoenix RoadRunners 7-3 Friday night at the E-Center.
In the first period, Ryan Kinasewich got the scoring started for the Grizzlies, when he found the back of the net twice, at the 5:40 and 9:06 marks for his 16th and 17th goals of the season. After taking a Barret Ehgoetz pass, Jeff Miles weaved his way through traffic and added another Grizzlies goal to extend the lead to three, 11:32 into the game. With less than a minute remaining in the first period, the RoadRunners got on the board thanks to a Justin Quenneville power-play goal.
The second period was a defensive battle until Garett Cameron put the puck past RoadRunners netminder, Mike Mole, at the 15:56 mark to increase the Grizzlies lead to 4-1.
The RoadRunners cut the lead in half when Shawn Snider slipped the puck into the net at the 8:27 mark in the third period. Utah then erupted for three goals in 2:41 when Barret Ehgoetz, Jeff Miles and Colt King all put the puck past the pipes. The RoadRunners added a late third period goal when Justin Quenneville scored his second power-play goal of the night, but it was too little, too late as the Grizzles held on for the victory.
Ryan Kinasewich (2 goals, 1 assist), Garett Cameron (1 goal, 1 assist), Louis Dumont (2 assists), Barret Ehgoetz (1 goal, 1 assist) and Brad Herauf (2 assists) all had multi-point outings for the Grizzlies. Colt King continued his offensive tear, scoring his sixth goal in seven games.
The Utah Grizzlies will take on the RoadRunners once again for game five of their seven-game home stand on Saturday, January 21, at the E-Center. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
