Fields Called Up to AHL Providence

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that Goaltender Sean Fields has been called up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

A two time ECHL Goalie of the week, Fields becomes the 10th player called up to the American Hockey League from the Gladiators this season while he becomes the second player called up to Providence joining Pascal Pelletier on the Bruins roster.

The Edmonton, Alberta native has appeared in 26 games this season for the Gladiators posting a 2.89 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. He has compiled a 17-6-3 record for the Gladiators during that span.

Originally added as an emergency back up goaltender last season for the Gladiators on December 3rd, he was signed on December 5th backstopping the Gladiators to a 4-2 win that day. He finished his rookie 2004-05 season posting a 21-7-2 record and a 2.48 goals against average for the Gladiators.

In four seasons at Boston University, Fields was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2002-03 and 2003-04 and set numerous records including wins (62), saves (3066) and minutes (7308). Fields is the only player in history to win the Eberly Trophy for outstanding goaltender and the MVP award in back-to-back Beanpot Tournaments (2003 and 2004).

Fields should be available for the Providence Bruins for their 7:05 p.m. start tonight against the Hartford Wolfpack.
