Augusta Lynx News Release

Power play goals served only to forge a tie game through two periods of play between the Augusta Lynx and South Carolina Stingrays Friday night, and it was a third-period power play goal that decided the contest in a 2-1 Stingrays victory.

Former Lynx Likit Andersson helped set up the lone goal of the first period, as Marty Clapton took the rebound off a point shot and beat Jason Wolfe for a power play marker at 19:22 of the opening frame.

In the second, Augusta responded with a power play goal of its own at 3:29 from Brian Passmore. Martin Lapointe's shot bounced away from Stingrays netminder Davis Parley and onto Passmore's stick, who potted the puck for his 10th goal of the season. Sam Ftorek also added a helper on the goal to tie the game at 1-1 through 40 minutes of play.

In the end, it was an even strength goal that downed Augusta, as Brad Parsons scored a rebound goal at 10:01 of the final frame from Reid and Ryan Finnerty for the 2-1 final.

Augusta finished the game 1-for-7 on the power play while South Carolina ended the night 1-for-5.

The Lynx are back in action Saturday night against the Everblades in Florida, with game time slated for a 7:30 faceoff. The Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicks off one half-hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
