The Greenville Grrrowl handed the Gladiators their worst loss in team history knocking off Gwinett 6-0 on Friday night in front of 6,625 at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville. With the win, The Grrrowl moved within 4 points of the Gladiators in the American Conference South Division. The Gladiators looked to take a 1-0 lead early in the first period as Scott Kelman jammed the puck past Greenville netminder Cam Ellsworth but the goal was disallowed as Gwinnett took a penalty putting the Grrrowl on the power play. Greenville capitalized on the Gwinnett mistake scoring on the ensuing man advantage 3:16 into the first period on a goal by Colin Pepperall. Sliding into the slot, Pepperall roofed a shot past Gladiators netminder Tuomas Tarkki off a pass from John Snowden to give the Grrrowl an early 1-0 lead. Cody Blanshan also had a helper on the tally. Brock Radunske pushed the Greenville lead to 2-0 as he finished a 2-on-1 break with John Snowden sliding into the slot and beating Tarkki for the tally. Pepperall also had a helper on the goal 15:35 of the first period. Greenville extended their lead to three goals just 44 seconds later. Walking out of the corner untouched, Krys Barch slid the puck under the legs of Tarkki for the tally. Daryl Pierce and Tim Sestito picked up the assists on the tally 16:19 into the first period. Barch gave the Grrrowl a 4-0 lead midway through the second period with another goal for Greenville on the power play. Tyler Mosienko and Jan Vodrazka hooked up to pick up the assists on the goal scored 11:28 into the second period. Greenville took a 5-0 lead on Mosienko's first goal of the game with just 13 seconds left in the middle stanza. Wide open in the slot, Mosienko took his time before snapping a shot past Tarkki for the goal. Pepperall and Barch picked up the assists on the goal. Radunske posted his second goal of the game to give the Grrrowl a 6-0 lead late in the third period. Taking a centering pass out of the corner from Snowden, Radunske then beat Tarkki for the goal. Pepperall slso had an assist on the goal at 16:38 mark of the third period. With the loss, the Gladiators fall to 23-9-5 on the season. The six goal differential set a Gladiators team record for largest losing margin in team history breaking the previous mark of 5 set on January 15, 2005 in a 5-0 loss against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. In his first game since being assigned to the Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves, Tarkki made 38 saves for Gwinnett while the Gladiators were unsuccessful on seven power play changes in the contest.
